Karyn Heald is the principal person involved in Nor'west Arch although there are a number of other very talented people who work closely with the business to produce awesome results. Since leaving University armed with a degree in marketing and business, she has worked primarily in the Ski and Tourism Industries in New Zealand, Japan and the United States. In 1994 she trained as a Massage Therapist and in 1995 opened her first business.
In 1999 she placed a manager in that business and accepted the role of Regional Sales and Marketing for Mt Hutt Ski Area and held that position for five years. During that time she developed an interest in event management, and to this end took on the role of Head of Department for Racing and Events at Mt Hutt in 2004.

At the beginning of 2005 she was offered a position with Mt Hutt Helicopters as Marketing Manager where she remained for 2 years before the birth of Nor'west Arch.

 

 

She also has a very practical side (in good Kiwi style) and has worked on farms, driven tractors, baled hay and operated heavy machinery including dump trucks (most recently during Mt Hutt Ski Area’s addition of the high speed chairlift) during summer months or whenever finances demanded!

 

  

Another role for Karyn is as current president of the Canterbury Alpine Search Dogs and as part of that position; is involved in the sponsorship, organisation of training of handlers and their dogs as well as liaising with other SAR groups and the NZ Police.
